Georgijs Osokins
The Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins gained international recognition at age 19 after competing in the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition, where he became an audience favorite. Critics described his interpretations as “revolutionary,” “extraordinary,” and “unpredictable.” Following the competition, he performed at major venues such as Konzerthaus Berlin, Boulez Saal, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Salzburg Festival, Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Wigmore Hall London, Carnegie Hall, Lockenhaus Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Vancouver Playhouse, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Hall and the Shanghai Music Festival.
In May 2025 Georgijs has signed and exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon becoming the first Baltic pianist to be represented by DG label.
In recent seasons, Osokins collaborated with leading orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Christoph Eschenbach and Rotem Nir (five concerts in Tel Aviv as a jump-in for Rudolf Buchbinder), and a tour with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo under Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, earning outstanding reviews for concerts in Monte Carlo and in the Konzerthaus Dortmund. With Kremerata Baltica, he embarked on an Asia tour, performing in top concert halls across South Korea, China, and Taiwan. Osokins frequently collaborates with Gidon Kremer, touring across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia, and the USA. Alongside Lucas Debargue, he became the first resident guest artist in Kremerata Baltica’s 25-year history.
The 2025/26 season opens with recital appearances at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Weidener Meisterkonzertes and Polling, and further recital performances in Germanys cultural metropoles Munich and Berlin as part of München Musik Gmbh.
As for the orchestra season, Georgijs will return to work with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo under the lead of Tianyi Lu and will give his debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, making debuts at Victoria Hall Geneva and KKL Lucerne under the lead of Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. Other orchestra performances in the year 2025 include his performance of Arvo Pärts Lamentate with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra under the lead of Kristine Poska, the Kassel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra.
A major recording highlight of Georgijs 25/26 season is his debut release by Deutsche Grammophon in September - “For Arvo” album with Arvo Pärt’s complete piano works, celebrating legendary composer’s 90th anniversary.
Georgijs received the Cross of Merit (Silver grade) awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland and the Latvian Grand Music Award - highest honour in music in Latvia - and remains youngest recipient in the Awards’ history.
Osokins performs on his own bespoke piano bench designed by Fazioli.
